'Just want to drop you a quick line to thank you for the past weekend. The cottage was perfect! Very comfortable, spacious, clean and we all had a great time.We will definitely be returning. Leanne and Millgate Homes.Jan 08 '

Five of us spent a splendid week at Ty Capel over Christmas, 2006. We all agreed that we felt at home straightaway. Every need seemed to have been catered for - right down to hot water bottles! The location is outstanding with a magnificent, unspoiled view of Snowdon from the elegantly designed living room. We much enjoyed the wood stoves after days in the mountains - and to be able to start on the Snowdon climb from the front door was an added bonus! We loved the cosiness of our bedrooms - and to be able to watch the birds on the birdtable as we (and they!) were having breakfast.
We would heartily recommend Ty Capel. The thoughtfulness that has gone in to making memorable the guests' stay is outstanding. - Bernard Battley
Our trip was fantastic, and we really enjoyed all the varying activities. Ty Capel was excellent and I will recommend it to my friends and colleagues. One thing that I won't forget is the generous nature of the Welsh people.-Khalid July 2007

Welcome

long view of rhyd ddu villageTy Capel was built in 1889 and in 2006 was extended and refurbished to add a stunning modern sitting room looking out over Snowdon, and new bathrooms, toilets and a utility room.  In early 2007 the dining room was refurbished and now has an exposed stone wall with the original fireplace and an oak strip floor.

The village of Rhyd Ddu, which has its own pub serving real ales and good food, is 3.5 miles from Beddgelert, 9 miles from Caernarfon and 9 miles from the award winning beach of Dinas Dinlle. The Welsh Highland Railway (narrow gauge, steam) which starts in Caernarfon, runs past the house and terminates in the village. An excellent base for walking, bird watching, fishing, golfing and visiting the many places of interest in the area.front view of ty capel cottage

If it is activity you want, Ty Capel is the place. The Snowdon path starts outside the door, the Nantlle Ridge and other great climbs start from the village without a boring drive. If you land up on the other side of Snowdon then a regular Summer bus service (Snowdon Sherpa) will drop you back at the door.

Rhyd Ddu village consists of a handful of houses and a pub surrounded by the mountains of the Snowdonia National Park. Ty Capel (chapel house in welsh) is the finest house in the area both for accommodation and position , you will remember your visit for ever. The owners have had a house in the village for 35 years and still enjoy holidays there with their children and grandchildren.
