ROUTE LONDON - RHYD DDU

Take M1 from London then M6 North to Junction 10A then M54 leading to A5.
With the current roadworks on M1 you may prefer to take M40 out of London then M42 up to the M6.

At busy times you may like to take the M6 toll road which you exit at T8 which takes you to the bottom of M54. Watch out for the cameras on this link road!

Follow A5 round Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Chirk.

Follow A5 through Llangollen, Corwen, (if you want a friendly family restaurant
we always use Country Cooks on right at Ty Nant).

Keep on A5 to Betws Y Coed where A5 goes left over the bridge and through the town.

At Capel Curig turn left at the far end of the village (A4085). Follow this glorious road past Plas y Brenin training centre ,alongside the lake with the snowdon horseshoe ahead of you, over the top of the hill past the famous Pen Y Gwryd hotel (where the John Hunt and the Everest climbers trained) and down a twisty road with great views of Snowdon on your right and down to Nant Gwynant lake and on to Beddgelert.

At the bridge take A4086 (actually straight on). Rhyd Ddu is the next village. The drive to Ty Capel is next to the last house on your right.

ROUTE TO RHYD DDU FROM NORTH AND NORTH WEST ENGLAND

From M6 Junction 20 take M56 then M53 which becomes the A55 round Chester.

The A55 is a good dual carriageway road but beware jams at busy times.

Follow A55 to Junction 10 where you follow signs to Caernarfon (A487). At the bottom of the big hill at the roundabout go left. This road crosses B4366 then at the A4086 turn left (opposite Sopna Indian Restaurant, very good) down over the bridge then first right to the roundabout at Caeathro (over to your right is an Esso garage with a small supermarket).

Take the left turn (A4085) through Waenfawr, Betws Garmon and past the lake (you will see Snowdon ahead) then up the hill into Rhyd Ddu.

Opposite the pub is the drive to Ty Capel
